About the LAMPO Archive

The LAMPO Archive documents hundreds of experimental music performances and other avant-garde audio-visual projects, produced and presented by the Chicago organization from 1997 to present. The collection consists primarily of unique performance documentation recorded to several audiovisual formats and photographs, as well as organizational history including: correspondence, grants, diagrams, project and production notes, and press materials. The archive is growing, with upcoming seasons of performances where local, national and international musicians perform original works in unique programs.
The bulk of the collection exists as photographs, with approximately 10,000 individual images originating on 35mm negatives, as well as born-digital photographs and some derivatives. The collection also includes approximately 400 audiovisual recordings that need to be sorted out to distinguish original recordings from derivative copies
