Chicago Area Archivists invites CAA members and interested others to attend this fall’s Archives Salon, a series of informal discussions on topics of interest to archivists, historians, librarians, and records managers.
T
his Archives Salon will center on the recent article "Archives Beyond the Pale: Negotiating Legal and Ethical Entanglements after the Belfast Project" (
The American Archivist
, Vol. 76, No.1, Spring/Summer 2013: 47-67) written by Christine Anne George. The article discusses the challenges archivists face as a result of the recent legal battle over the Belfast Project oral history initiative at Boston College, and how we must adapt to the inevitable changes this case will bring to the profession.
Join your colleagues for an open-ended, unmoderated discussion of these and other professional issues. Come having read the article and be prepared to share your thoughts, listen to those of your colleagues, and respond.
This is a free event but registration is requested.
