The Curating and Exhibits Interest Group invites all CAA members to consider attending the online program "High-Tech, Low-Tech, On-site, Off-site: Bringing Digital Technology Into Library Exhibit Work" on September 29th. The speakers are: Chelsea Kaufman, Library Exhibition Designer at the University of Chicago, and Juan Denzer, Engineering and Computer Science Librarian at the Syracuse University Library. How can libraries balance the need for creating exhibition experiences that engage audiences in virtual and physical environments? What kind of digital technology can effectively support different learning styles? In this informal two-speaker panel, our speakers will give short (15-20 minute) demonstrations or overviews of technology that archivists/librarians can bring to their exhibits in a low cost, non-specialized way. Chelsea Kaufman at the University of Chicago will discuss how to create videos of curator talks to embed into digital web exhibits, as well as the processes for videography and audio transcription for accessibility, and more. Juan Denzer will share how to use touch and sound components in exhibits or show how librarians can adapt Xboxes and other tools for exhibit interactives. The presentation will be followed by Q&A, in which attendees are encouraged to share their own experience of using digital technology in their exhibition. Registration required. Registrants will receive the Zoom link in advance of the event. The presentation will be recorded and available on the CAA website after the event.
