ANNOUNCING CHICAGO AREA ARCHIVISTS' 2026 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

CAA brings together archivists, librarians, students, educators and cultural heritage professionals from across the Chicago area. Our programs, professional resources, advocacy and opportunities to connect are possible because people like YOU choose to be part of this community.

Throughout the drive, we’ll be highlighting the benefits of CAA membership, spotlighting stories from current members about why they value CAA, and offering incentives and perks to new members and current members who refer.

WHY JOIN CAA?

Members have opportunities to:

• Attend networking and social events to connect with other members who work in or adjacent to the archival profession

• Access discounted registration fees for CAA programs and events

• Gain leadership experience through optional participation in CAA committees and subcommittees

• Participate in educational and professional development programming, such as resume reviews

• Join interest groups around common archival subjects, including Archives and Archivists of Color, Business Archives, Curation and Exhibitions, and Religious Archives and Collections

• Vote in annual Steering Committee elections

ADDITIONAL PERKS FOR NEW MEMBERS

New members that join CAA during the drive will be able to access several additional perks, including:

• A few extra months of membership at the annual rate — CAA’s annual membership renewal fee ($15) is due in January of each year, but new members won’t have to renew again until January 2028

• Free CAA swag for those who attend CAA events during the drive

• A chance to win a $50 Starbucks gift card — all new members will be entered into the drawing, with the winner announced at the CAA Holiday Party on Dec 9

PERKS FOR CURRENT MEMBERS WHO REFER

Current CAA members who refer a friend or colleague to join will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win a $50 Starbucks gift card! 

• Any current members who refer will be entered into the drawing (separate from the new member drawing), with the winner announced at the CAA Holiday Party on Dec 9

• In order to enter the drawing, new members must add the referring member’s name to the Referring Member field when they sign up

CAA EVENTS DURING THE DRIVE

We have two events scheduled during the drive and both are open to non-members — this is a great opportunity to explore CAA before committing to membership. If you are curious about joining the CAA community or have a friend who might be, bring them along to one of these events!

• Thursday, November 12: Pop Culture Book Club - Join us on Zoom for our first book club discussion involving books that explore how archives, libraries, and collections are understood outside of the archives fields.

• Wednesday, December 9: CAA Holiday Party - Save the date for the annual holiday party — all new members in attendance will receive a CAA tote bag!
