Archive Intern/Apprentice, Allstate Insurance, Schaumburg

Onsite; $22.00/hour

Job Description

Help us bridge the gap between Allstate’s 90-year history and the digital future. As our Archive Intern, you won't just be filing papers; you’ll be a digital preservationist and a brand storyteller. You’ll work directly with our Corporate Archivist to turn "old records" into engaging digital experiences.

Note: Candidates must be actively enrolled in a 2year community college and or technical program during the full duration of the apprenticeship program

What You’ll Actually Do (The Impact)

  • Curate the Vault: Get hands-on with 500+ linear feet of history—organizing and rehousing materials to ensure they’re preserved for the next century.
  • Digital Transformation: Help us build a future-proof plan for "born-digital" records and massive digitization projects.
  • Content Creation: Flex your writing skills by creating posts for our internal social platforms.
  • Lead a Virtual Tour: Own the development of a virtual archive tour and curate your very own online exhibit.

What’s In It For You?

  • Portfolio Gold: Contribute to an online exhibit and virtual tour project to gain experience that can help demonstrate your experience to future employers.
  • 1:1 Mentorship: Direct access to a professional archivist—no getting lost in the corporate machine.
  • Tech Stack: Get trained on Proficio (industry-standard CMS) and learn modern digital preservation protocols.

Who You Are

  • The Student: Currently enrolled in History, Library Science, Museum Studies, or a similar vibe.
  • The Detail Maven: You find satisfaction in organizing and have a "get it done" mindset.
  • The Tech-Savvy Historian: You’re comfortable with Excel and ready to master new database software quickly.
  • The Independent Worker: You enjoy a mix of collaborative brainstorming and deep, focused solo work.

Bonus Points

  • You’ve worked in a library or museum before.
  • You’re passionate about how organizations tell their stories.
