The CAA Events Subcommittee invites all members, students, and interested others to join us for a tour of the Chicago History Museum archives, Tuesday, February 12th at 11am. CHM Archivist, Peter Alter, will give a tour of the archival storage area and talk about Archie Motley’s effort to build the collection and where the collections are today. Our visit to the museum will be followed by lunch at Elly’s Pancake House.

The is a privately endowed, independent institution devoted to collecting, interpreting, and presenting the rich multicultural history of Chicago and Illinois, as well as selected areas of American history, to the public through exhibitions, programs, research collections, and publications.
 
Post-visit gathering: 12pm
Elly’s Pancake House
101 W. North Avenue
Elly’s Pancake House is on the Northeast corner of North Avenue and Clark Street, and is visible from the entrance of the Chicago History Museum.
 
Feel free to attend either or both parts of this event, but remember that an RSVP is required to attend the tour (the tour group is capped at 20 people).  Please visit the Chicago History Museum’s Visitor Information page for directions and parking information.
