Morgen MacIntosh Hodgetts, Special Collections Instruction Librarian, DePaul University.  Morgen attended Dartmouth’s Librarians Active Learning Institute-Archives and Special Collections (LALI-ASC) this past July.  She will share tips and tricks about active learning pedagogy, backward design principles, and collaborative learning techniques that were demonstrated and practiced during the three-day workshop.

Valerie Harris, Special Collections Librarian, University of Illinois at Chicago. Valerie will share her ideas for developing one-shot lesson plans for undergraduates learning about special collections research. She will also introduce the recently launched website TPS Exchange <http://rb.teachwithstuff.org/>, created by the Reference, Access, and Outreach Section of the Society of American Archivists, and the Teaching with Primary Sources Committee.

Lauren Beurskens, Archivist, State Farm Insurance. Borrowing from the concept of visual literacy, Lauren will talk about leveraging primary sources within the corporate context for heritage displays, interior design work and corporate research. She’ll include practical approaches for engaging users who may not be well versed in all that an archive has to offer.
