Chicago Open Archives event: One of UIC Special Collections and University Archives’ collecting strengths are its Chicago design history holdings, which include the 27 Chicago Designers, the Society of Typographic Arts, and the Institute of Design, among others.

Visit UIC’s Richard J. Daley Library to take a guided tour of our design exhibit, view additional materials from our holdings, and hear more about Chicago design history.

Note that the exhibit is open to the public Thursday and Friday 10 AM - 4 PM. Advance registration is required for the tour at 3 PM, but not for general viewing of the exhibit.

The Special Collections and University Archives Department at the Richard J. Daley library houses collections of rare books, manuscripts, maps, and photographs, with particular strength in the social, political, and cultural history of Chicago. UIC's University Archives is the repository for historical records of the University of Illinois at Chicago and its predecessors as well as selected papers of prominent faculty, alumni, and administrative staff.
