Chicago Public Library, Vivian G. Harsh Collection of Afro-American History and Literature - Guided Tour

Take guided tour of an exhibit celebrating the 110th anniversary of the Chicago Defender. The tour also includes a visit to “the stacks,” the archives storage area that is usually not open to the public. 

1st Tour: 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

2nd Tour: 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

3rd Tour: 3 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Maximum capacity: 15 visitors per tour

No registration necessary

The largest African American history and literature collection in the Midwest, the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection of Afro-American History and Literature documents the black experience with a strong focus on Chicago. The collection is housed at the Woodson Regional Library, part of the Chicago Public Library.
