  Please join us for a tour of the Newberry Library’s exhibit Indigenous Chicago on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1 p.m. Indigenous Chicago is part of a multifaceted initiative developed in partnership between the Newberry, advisors from the Chicago Native community, and representatives from tribal nations with historic connections to Chicago, and reflects the dynamic and complex aspects of Native life in Chicago from the seventeenth century to the present. We will view a special collection presentation and receive a guided tour from co-curator Analú María López (Huachichil/Xi'úi), the Newberry’s Ayer Librarian and Assistant Curator of American Indian and Indigenous Studies. The tour is brought to you by CAA’s Archives and Archivists of Color interest group. We will meet at 1 p.m. in the lobby of the Newberry Library, 60 W. Walton St., Chicago, 60610. Here are some FAQs about visiting the Newberry. Guests are welcome but we are limited to 25 people.

  Join us at the historic Exchequer Restaurant & Pub in the loop on Thursday, December 12 for CAA’s annual holiday party! Pizza and drinks will be in abundance, shiny prizes will be raffled, and festive fun will surely be had.

  All CAA members, CAA listserv subscribers, CAMA and CARA members, friends, and students are welcome! Tickets are $20 for CAA members, $25 for non-members (including members' guests), and we have a limited number of $10 for members who are students, retirees, or underemployed - please choose this last option only if necessary. Make sure to renew your membership before purchasing your ticket to take advantage of the member rate.

  Your ticket gets you buffet-style thin-crust and deep-dish pizza, house and Caesar salad, along with soft drinks, draught and bottled beer and house wines.

  We will try to accommodate dietary needs as best as we can - if you need vegan and/or gluten free options, please indicate on the registration form or email info@chicagoarchivists.org by Friday, December 6th.

  Don't miss this year's raffle prizes which will support the Travel Fund for Archives and Archivists of Color. All party attendees are automatically entered to win, but additional raffle tickets can be purchased onsite via online or cash donations.
