Legacy Center Archivist:  Half-time Position

Qualifications: MLS or MA in history or related field, with graduate training in Archives Management; knowledge/interest in Japanese American history; understanding and awareness of national trends and standards in archival description; experience using archival cataloging software; experience/training in preserving and providing access to archival electronic records; experience creating archival exhibits; experience using MicroSoft Office and PhotoShop software; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:  Collect and preserve the historical records of Japanese Americans in the Chicago area; process and catalog the records according to archival standards; digitize selected photographs and documents and add them to the on-line catalog; preserve and provide access to archival electronic (i.e., "born-digital") records; answer reference questions from JASC members and other researchers; work with JASC Legacy Center Director to publicize and use the Legacy Center Archives; create occasional online or on-site exhibits using Legacy Center records; other duties as assigned.
