Summer Job Posting: Archival Processing Assistant (LA 7), Northwestern University

This part-time position will work within the Archival Processing unit at Northwestern University Libraries, which is responsible for analyzing and arranging historic manuscripts, photographs, artifacts, periodicals, and other archival materials.

This position will process from start to finish one or more archival collections under the guidance of the Archival Processing unit. These collections will come from the Distinctive Collections workgroup, which includes Northwestern University Archives, Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections, Herskovits Library of African Studies, Music Library, and Transportation Library.

This project will involve rehousing materials, arranging them in chronological order by topic, writing narrative biographical information, and creating a finding aid to the collection, which will be used by students and scholars. Applicants should have a basic familiarity with using a finding aid. This position is a summer project only and will conclude by September 7, 2018. Current graduate students in library or archival programs are encouraged to apply.

Hourly Wage: $12.00
Hours: 15/week
Hours Available: Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, no evening or weekend hours
