Assistant Archivist & Digital Preservation Librarian,

The Member Experience team is looking for a digital savvy and enthusiastic archivist to join their group. As directed by the Manager, Library and Archives, the Assistant Archivist will serve as the point of contact for reference and information requests from NAR members, NAR staff, association staff, volunteer leaders, and consumers. Various requests may include, but are not limited to, information about the Association and the real estate industry, NAR’s history and evolution, NAR publications and events, real estate market data, national trends, and property value impact studies.

 The archivist will manage archival materials and collections, write news worthy content for internal and external publications, digitize historical documents and images and assist with other projects for the Member Experience team.

 The ideal candidate is a proficient business writer with strong skills in research and customer service, has familiarity with commonly used library databases and archival collections management software (ACMS), and practice keen attention to detail. This candidate also possesses a supportive and collaborative team member attitude. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize various library databases, publications, and other research methods to conduct reference searches and to respond to inquiries
  • Develop content for NAR’s internal and external publications including online media and websites
  • Daily answer and support calls/requests coming into the association’s state of the art call center
  • Collaborate with Archivist and Digital Preservation Librarian on special projects and other daily tasks
  • Provide scheduled building tours to NAR members and guests
  • Act as an advocate for NAR’s library and inform members of the resources library and archives provides
  • Use ACMS platform to manage, organize, and process archival materials and collections
    • Develop featured and special collections
  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Masters in Library Science (MLS) or Masters in Librarian and Information Science (MLIS) With a concentration or experience in archives required
  • 1-5 years of experience in library and/ or archives referred
  • Experience working with library databases and ACMS platforms
  • Team Player Attitude - strive for excellence, demonstrate flexibility and reliability
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills with a high level of response to all inquiries
